The best man wins after chaining himself to door
THE man who chained himself to a doorknob inside the passport office this week has finally been issued with his passport, writes Colin Gleeson.
In protest over delays at the office on Dublin's Molesworth Street, Colin Gillick (34), from Co Wicklow, chained himself to a doorknob inside the building, refusing to leave without his passport. He was eventually escorted from the office with a written guarantee that he would have it by yesterday. But Gardai collected Mr Gillick's passport for him on Thursday.
Mr Gillick said he is looking forward to flying to Thailand on Monday to be the best man at his brother's wedding. "If I hadn't chained myself up, I wouldn't have the passport and I wouldn't be going," he said.
