TWO teenagers, who were arrested by gardai after burglars rammed a patrol car, have been released without charge.
Garda Karen Duffy, who is in her 20s and attached to Swords station, Dublin, suffered a broken nose and lacerations to her head. Last night, she was recovering at Beaumont Hospital after undergoing surgery.
Gda Duffy stepped out of the patrol car in the Cian Lea estate in Swords in the early hours of Wednesday and was about to stop a suspect Nissan Micra car.
But the driver of the Micra increased speed and struck her passenger door, which slammed into her face and head.
Other garda units arrived and found two suspects cycling in the nearby Applewood area.
The two, who have criminal records, are from the Ballymun area. They were taken to Coolock station for questioning but later released.
Gardai said a file would now be prepared for the DPP.
