Teen's family maintain bedside vigil following tragic fall

A teen suffered serious head injuries in a fall while playing in Cork.

The youngster - understood to be a 14 year old boy - fell while playing with friends in Kinsale around 7pm this evening.

It is understood he was playing near railings on a steep area of the town when he lost his footing and fell onto a rocky surface, striking his head.

The incident happened in The Orchards estate in Kinsale.

The Gardai and emergency services were immediately alerted and the teen was rushed to Cork University Hospital (CUH) after he was freed.

He is understood to be in a serious condition with head and neck injuries.

The incident is being treated by gardai as a tragic accident.

The teen’s family was maintaining a vigil by his CUH bedside.
