Teenager shot in foot on suburban estate

A YOUNG boy was shot in the foot by a gunman while he was out on the streets of a residential estate.

Shots were fired at the boy, who is believed to be aged just 15, in the Fassaroe estate, Bray, Co Wicklow.

It is understood that he sustained injuries when a bullet hit him in the foot though his injuries were not life threatening.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for the gunshot wound last night.

The victim, who was from the area, was at a junction in the estate known as the 'blind lane' at the time of the incident.

A garda helicopter was last night searching the Bray area following the shooting. However there have been no arrests in relation to the incident.

The area of the shooting was preserved for a garda technical examination.

The teenager has not told gardai what happened.
