The terrifying incident occurred shortly after 3pm this afternoon in the quiet village of Ballygarret, Co Wexford.

It's understood the raiders came across the 18-year-old when he returned home during the robbery.

One of the men produced what has been described as a large "8 inch blade" and threatened the youth.

They later made their escapes in a green coloured Alfa Romeo car that was reportedly driven by a fourth waiting assailant.

The teen was uninjured but has been left "very shaken" by the ordeal, a source has said.

Anyone who may have witnessed a car that fits the description or who may have been in the area at the time has been asked to contact Courtown Garda Station on 053 94 25102
