Teenager dies in Christmas Day quad bike accident

A young man has been killed after a quad bike collided with a parked vehicle, while a girl (5) injured in a crash last week also passed away today.

A Garda spokesman said there had been a fatal road traffic accident on Christmas Day on the Ballybough Road near Summerhill in Dublin city. 


The accident involved a 19-year-old male who was  believed to have been on a quad bike at the time when he is understood to have crashed into a parked vehicle.

It occurred at approx 1.30 pm.

The teenager was rushed to the near-by Mater hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

The road is sealed off for technical examination at the moment, there were no other people involved in the accident.

Meanwhile, a five-year-old girl who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident on Galway on 18 December, passed away today. 

The collision occurred on the M6 at Newford, Athenry, Co. Galway.
