A 14-year-old boy who apparently shot himself has died from his injuries.
The teenager was rushed to hospital on Tuesday night after the incident at a house in the Clondalkin area of Dublin.
Gardai said the boy was at the house in the Woodford area when he suffered a gunshot wound.
It is understood the firearm involved was a legally-owned rifle.
A post-mortem examination is to be carried out.
Garda officers in Clondalkin are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the shooting which is being treated as a tragic incident.
