Teen shot in head moved to specialist unit

A TEENAGER who was shot in the head at the weekend has been transferred to a specialist hospital for treatment.

Luke Wilson (18) has been moved from St James's Hospital, Dublin, where he has been treated since the attack on Sunday afternoon, to the Eye and Ear hospital because of serious injuries to an eye and his throat.

He was hit in the head and neck when a gunman, whom he knew, opened fire on him as he walked through the War Memorial Park in Inchicore, Dublin.

The victim put up his arm and deflected one bullet, and gardai say this could have saved his life.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man, who was arrested by detectives in Ballyfermot shortly after the shooting, has been released.

A file will now be prepared by gardai for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
