A TEENAGE GAA star has been charged with the murder of his father. Sean Hackett (18) was arrested shortly after the body of Aloysius Hackett was found at the family home at Aghindarragh Road near Augher in Co Tyrone on Friday night. He had been shot.
Police were alerted when Sean Hackett, who captained Tyrone's minor team, contacted a local priest.
He was arrested a short time later.
A 17-year-old youth arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident has been released pending a report to the North's Public Prosecution Service.
Mr Hackett's funeral will take place at noon tomorrow at St Macartan's Church in Augher with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Sean's brothers Kevin (26) and Conor (25) are believed to have travelled home from overseas for the funeral.
They will be joined by their sister Aileen (23).
A neighbour of the Hackett family, Tony Donnelly, who is the Tyrone senior team's assistant manager, said the community was stunned by the tragedy.
Parish priest Canon Lawrence Dawson said: "It is a terrible tragedy – a dreadful start to 2013."
