Teen charged after woman (50) killed in three car collision

GARDAI have charged a teenager in relation to a three car fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Kielys Cros in Ardmore, Co. Waterford yesterday evening.

He will appear before the District Ct in Cashel, Co Tipperary tomorrow.

The accident happened at around 5.30 pm.

A woman in her 50s was fatally injured when the car she was travelling in as a backseat passenger was involved in a collision with a second car.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The other two occupants of the car were taken to hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.

The two occupants of a second car also taken to hospital with injuries described as minor.

The two occupants of a third car were uninjured, the 18-year-old driver of this third car was arrested at the scene and taken to Dungarvan Garda Station where he remains in custody.

The injured people were taken to Waterford and Clonmel Hospitals.

The road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.
