A SPEEDING case involving a TD has been adjourned. Fianna Fail's John Browne, of Beech Park, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, is charged with committing the offence on the N11 at Johnstown South, Arklow, Co Wicklow, on December 4, 2012.
When the case came before Arklow District Court yesterday, it was adjourned until October 16.
EIGHTY NEW JOBS
TWO multinational companies are planning on recruiting around 80 people. Gilt Global Trading and Procurement, which employs more than 100 people at its base in Plassey, Limerick, is creating 30 new jobs.
Meanwhile, Glass, Lewis and Company, a leading independent governance services firm based on Henry Street in the city, is hoping to more than double its workforce, with 50 new jobs.
WIDOW TO SUE ESB
THE widow and children of a man who was electrocuted to death last year are to bring High Court proceedings for damages against the ESB and a private sub-contractor.
This follows the Coroner's Court in Co Clare returning a verdict of accidental death into the death of father of four, John Geraghty (58), at Boston, Tubber, Co Clare on September 24 last year. Mr Geraghty, of Leitrim Beg, Loughrea, Co Galway, was an employee working for an ESB sub-contractor installing poles when he was electrocuted after a pole made contact with a high voltage overhead wire.

The British actor is hotly tipped to be guest of honour at the event with his new film, 'Kill Your Darlings', the closing feature at Ireland's oldest film festival.
THREE men were arrested after Custom officers seized 315kg of tobacco at Dublin Airport yesterday. Three Chinese men, aged 41, 33, and 27, were arrested in connection with the seizure which has a retail value of €128,000.
The tobacco, believed to be of Chinese origin, was found when officers searched a cargo consignment that had arrived from Bulgaria described as containing "advertising T-shirts".
