THE 16-year-old son of a Sinn Fein TD has been found safe and well just hours after his father issued a social media appeal to help locate him.
Father-of-three Aengus O Snodaigh issued a Facebook appeal in a bid to locate his son, Lorcan (16), who had been missing from the family's home in Bluebell, Dublin since the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gardai confirmed last night that the teen has been found safe and well.
The 49-year-old politician, who was elected to the Dail 12 years ago, issued an appeal for information on his Facebook page and also posted a photo of Lorcan.
He said he thought his son was still in the Dublin area.
The TD, who served as SF Party Whip in 2007, also thanked the thousands of people who had sent messages of support to his family after his older son, Fearghal (18), was stabbed last Sunday.
He suffered stab wounds to his upper arm and chest in the incident.
Despite his injuries Fearghal O Snodaigh managed to alert the emergency services using his mobile phone.
Last Monday, Mr O Snodaigh said his family were overwhelmed by messages of support.
"I want to thank all those who have sent messages of support to me and my family since news of this incident broke," he said.
"Fearghal is recovering well in hospital and we look forward to having him home again soon."
It is understood that the teen will make a full recovery from his injuries and is expected to be discharged from hospital shortly.
