A man's gold band was found by Aeva-May, the 11-year-old daughter of Labour TD Ciara Conway, on Clonea beach in Dungarvan, Co Waterford, last week. They have launched a Twitter campaign in the hope of finding the unlucky groom.

"Aeva-May was walking along the beach looking for nice shells. Something a bit more glittery caught her eye," said Ms Conway.

The ring is engraved with a date and a woman's name – but the details are being kept under wraps to ensure the genuine owner is found.

However, it does belong to someone who only married a matter of months ago.

Ms Conway said the beach is popular with walkers, swimmers and people training for triathlons.

If you're the owner, contact Ms Conway via Twitter on @ciaramconway.
