A son of Kerry South TD Jackie Healy-Rae was released from hospital today after being injured in a row with a neighbour.
Independent councillor Danny Healy-Rae was hurt in the back and face after the altercation on Saturday, believed to have been a dispute over land.
His brother Michael said Danny was discharged from Kerry General Hospital and would now be recuperating at home.
"We're glad that he's home," said Michael.
"Unfortunately he missed a council meeting today. He was unable to attend because of the fact that he was in hospital. It is the first time that any of us missed a council meeting. We hope that he will make a quick recovery."
Gardai said they are investigating the incident, which took place at Fossa, Kilgarvan, Co Kerry, at around 1.20pm on Saturday.
A spokesman said the other man was also brought to hospital, but the extent of his injuries are not known.
Michael said it will take a while before Danny makes a full recovery.
"Last night was the last time I saw him and he was still in pretty bad shape," he said.
"These things take time."
