TD (from Tallaght) of the Year:
Once again, accusations unfairly rain in upon the Kildare Street Confidential mailbox claiming this is a fix just to give an award to the most popular TD in Dail Eireann. Harsh.
And the nominees are...
Brian Hayes: Yeah, yeah, one of a number of bright boys in the Fine Gael class and he was also George Lee's director of elections in the Dublin South by-election. Plus, he defended Kenny's leadership better than anyone by pointing to his electoral record.
Charlie O'Connor from Tallaght: Stood up for the bus forum in Tallaght, lobbied for the old age pension not to be cut and generally remained the nicest guy around. His varied policy positions sometimes make it hard to figure out his party.
Pat Rabbitte: A few flashes of his old sarcastic best after the Budget as the sardonic wit re-emerged. Pressure intensifies on him to deliver a second seat in the general election.
And the winner is: Surprise, surprise, it's Charlie O'Connor from Tallaght, also the holder of title of most marginal seat in the Dail. What party is he with again?
