Taxi union votes to dissolve itself
THE founder of a taximen's union that was once the largest in the country has claimed it would not have folded if he was still around.
Former president and honorary member of the National Taxi Drivers Union Tommy Gorman last night said it was a "very sad day" after the union was wound up yesterday.
Members voted by more than 90pc to dissolve the union that was set up 16 years ago and once boasted a membership of over 2,500.
They said they made the decision due to a drop in membership and the cost of a pending court case.
