Taxi passenger dies following early morning collision in Dublin

A passenger in a taxi has died following an early morning crash in Dublin city centre.
The incident occurred at 1.40am in the north inner city area of Summerhill, at the junction between Portland Row and Summerhill Parade.
The passenger of the taxi, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The taxi driver is being treated for his injuries at the Mater Hospital.
The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured.
The road at the scene has re-opened following an examination of the crash site by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
