Nan Connors (16) was on her way home when she was knocked down at Glenamuck Road North, Carrickmines.

She suffered a fractured pelvis, torn ligaments in her back and a sprained leg and had to remain in St Vincent's Hospital for two days.

As gardai issued an appeal for witnesses, Nan described the man she said knocked her down and drove away on November 23.

"I was crossing the road and felt a bang on my left side and my feet were taken from under me. I fell and hit my head," she said, as she was comforted by her mother, Margaret.

"It was a silver Land Rover or Range Rover, and it drove on a bit and then he reversed and got out.

"He asked if I wanted to use his phone and I said 'no', and then he just got back in and drove away faster than when he hit me.

"I was left on the road. The next car could've killed me. He left me to die."

Accent

Nan said the vehicle had a 04 LH registration plate, and the man who was driving it spoke with a Dublin accent, was in his mid 30s and had short blond hair.

"He was around six feet tall and skinny and he had a colour- ful tattoo on his neck, on the right side, and he was trying to cover it with his hand when he was talking to me," she said.

Her mother said Nan struggled home and told her she had been hit by a car before vomiting and collapsing to the floor.

"He clothes were all torn. We couldn't believe it. We phoned an ambulance straight away and she was taken to hospital," she said.

Nan added: "I couldn't walk for four days afterwards, and I'm still waking up in pain with my back and my neck."

The incident happened on the stretch of road from the roundabout at the E15 South Off-Ramp to the roundabout at the entrance to the park and ride at the Carrickmines Luas stop.
