Taoiseach's mother dies at the age of 93
The death has been announced of Eithne Kenny, the mother of the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny.
Mrs Kenny died just before 9am this morning in Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar. She was aged 93.
Born Eithne McGinley in Glencolmcille in Co Donegal, Mrs Kenny trained as a home economics teacher before marrying Mayoman and fellow teacher Henry Kenny.
Mr Kenny became a Fine Gael TD in 1954 and remained a TD until his death from cancer in 1975.
His son Enda was elected to the Dail in the subsequent by-election.
Mrs Kenny is survived by her four sons John, Henry, Enda, and Kieran and daughter Marie Hastings.
Details of the funeral arrangements will be released when finalised.
