Two hundred jobs are to be created by a company that markets and makes promotional products.

National Pen is expanding its operations in Dundalk, Co Louth with the new staff taken on over the next five years bringing the workforce to more than 450.

Positions will be in sales, customer services, manufacturing, technical and administrative functions.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said the jobs boost was fantastic news for the region.

"You cannot underestimate how much of a great boost for the whole Louth area this will represent," he said.

"Earlier this year I performed the official opening of the PayPal offices - another important event on the road to recovery in the region.

"The expansion of National Pen in Dundalk also represents a significant win for Ireland, as we continue to work hard to attract new investment and jobs into the county."

The company, which manufactures and develops marketing and promotional materials, has been in Dundalk since 1987.
