Hi °C | Lo °C TAOISEACH Enda Kenny surveyed the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy on the Irish- American community at Breezy Point in Long Island.
Our video shows Mr Kenny standing on the deck of the house of local resident Joe Lynch, whose grandparents were from Co Cavan.
All the area in front of the house, which Mr Kenny is being shown, was previously covered in houses.
But 111 houses burned down in the Hurricane in a fire that spread from home to home.
The foundations of some of the houses is all that is left.
The water levels rose to four feet high during the storm flooding all the remaining homes.
