TWO people from Dublin – described as ‘a syndicate of two’ – have become Ireland’s latest Lotto millionaires, picking up a cheque for more than €8.1m.
The pair won the prize in last Saturday’s draw, and wish to remain anonymous.
“We can’t believe our luck,” smiled one of the happy winners over a glass of celebratory champagne. “What a way to kick off the New Year!”
The jackpot had been rolling since Saturday 30 November 2013 and included a €1 million top up added on 21 December 2013 to celebrate Christmas.
They bought the €4 Quick Pick ticket in Tesco, Wicklow Shopping Centre in Wicklow Town on the day of the draw.
Tesco in Wicklow is proving to be a lucky store. Just last September they sold a EuroMillions Match 5 + 1 Lucky Star winning ticket worth €272,629.
The luck is in with Tesco in Mullingar too. They sold the €1 million top prize winning ticket in the Christmas Millionaire Raffle draw on New Year’s Eve 31 December 2013. The winner is yet to claim that prize.
To date the National Lottery has raised over €4.2 billion for good causes. This level of funding has made a significant difference to communities, projects and individuals in the areas of Youth, Sports, Recreation, Amenities, Health, Welfare, Arts, Culture, National Heritage and the Irish Language.
