Suspected armed robber is buried

THE chief suspect in an armed post-office raid was buried yesterday. He had been found hanged while gardai hunted for him, writes Paddy Clancy.

Niall Greaney (23), from Galway, was found hanged in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, on Saturday. He was the chief suspect in a raid on Riverstown Post Office, Co Sligo, four days earlier.

Gardai had matched discarded burned clothes with CCTV images of what Greaney had been seen wearing in another store shortly before the raid.

About €1,800 was stolen during the Riverstown robbery.

Two women were subsequently arrested and a file is being sent to the DPP.
