Suspect device found outside suburban home

EMERGENCY services evacuated a home in West Dublin this morning following the discovery of a suspicious device.

Gardai called in the Army Bomb Disposal Unit after received a call from a member of the public about 8am.



A suspicious device was discovered close to a car outside a property in the Fortlawn area of Blanchardstown.



The device has been removed for further examination and gardai have launched an investigation.



It has not yet been established whether the device was viable.



Officers evacuated a number of people from the property after the device was found. The site was made safe at around 10am this morning.



An Army spokeswoman said: “Tests are being carried out on the device in order to determine what category it falls into.”
