A Wexford village was awash with colour yesterday as kite surfers got in shape ahead of the Irish championships.
More than 50 competitors are expected to take part in the event in Duncannon, Co Wexford, from August 21-22.
Local instructor Niall Roche described kite surfing as a "fantastic spectator sport".
"Kite surfing seems to be the buzz word at the minute," he said.
The championships are part of the National Kite Surfing Festival which includes family events such as face and body painting.
Before all that, the Sand Sculpting Festival will be on Duncannon beach this weekend.
Families can expect fireworks on the beach, live music and puppet shows street theatre and sand sculpting events.
