Sunshine will give way to shivers and showers

MAKE the most of it because our fickle weather is due to take another turn for the worse from tomorrow.

While temperatures reached 21C yesterday, the mercury is expected to head south over the coming days.

Met Eireann is predicting temperatures will be below normal for early July, with afternoon values languishing in the mid-teens.

It does not look good for the start of the Oxegen music festival on Thursday. With thousands of fans planning to camp at the Punchestown venue in Co Kildare, the outlook is for cool, showery conditions with some heavy rain.

Today is expected to be warm and dry. However, it will be cloudier in the west and south-west with rain becoming widespread by early evening.

The following days will be cooler with showers or longer periods of rain most days and temperatures falling back.
