Summer's here! Temperatures to climb to 23C today ahead of warm, sunny weekend

Ireland’s warm weather looks set to continue as temperatures are expected to hit 23C today.

It will be a mostly dry and sunny day, but isolated heavy showers may develop across the north and east later in the day.

Many areas of the country will experience very mild weather, with highest temperatures of 19-23C.

Onshore breezes will bring temperatures down in eastern and northern coastal areas to a balmy 15-18C.

It’s set to be a dry night, apart from some light rain scattered across the east. Lowest temperatures will be from 6-10C.

Met Eireann predicts it will be mostly dry this weekend, although temperatures will dip slightly.

Saturday morning will see a mix of cloudy and sunny spells, clearing to periods of mild sunshine in the midlands, south and west.

Although not as warm as recent days, many areas will enjoy highs of 16-19C during the day, dropping to 2-8C on Saturday night with some patches of mist and fog.

After a cool start on Sunday morning, the pleasant weather will continue.

There’s a chance of isolated showers in the southwest, but people can still squeeze some sunshine in on Sunday afternoon as temperatures rise to 15-19C.
