Cian O'Reilly, Jessica McHenry and Cuan Kelly, from Wicklow Montessori School, are pictured with their project 'Which Toothpaste and Mouthwash Make Your Teeth Whiter' as part of the annual Intel Mini Scientist competition.

The best and brightest young pupils from primary schools across Ireland came together yesterday to showcase their offerings as part of this year's final.

Investigative

The Intel Mini Scientist programme promotes an investigative and collaborative approach to learning science in primary schools, and is tailored towards pupils in fourth, fifth and sixth class.

It encourages students to develop science-related projects which are then exhibited at fairs held within their own schools.

In 2010, the exhib-ition took place at 37 schools, with more than 2,600 students taking part.
