Less than one-third of people describe their posture as "good" even though a majority are aware that sitting and standing properly improves concentration.

The Chiropractic Association of Ireland, which surveyed the public on back, neck and shoulder problems, found many of us know the downside of slouching, but continue to slouch anyway.

The survey was carried out as part of its seventh annual Straighten Up Ireland Week, and Florence Ross (5) and Lara O'Connor (9) - pictured above - were at the launch yesterday.

More information on the week's events is available at www.chiropractic.ie.
