To hit number one in Ireland this December 25 it will be crucial for The Rubberbandits to sell thousands of copies of their 'Horse Outside' single between today and December 23 when the Christmas charts are compiled.
Although the group have sold 15,000 downloads of their comedy track on iTunes, the physical copies of their CD which hits shops today will be crucial in order to top the chart.
"The Rubberbandits were doing well until the boost the 'X Factor' final at the weekend gave winner Matt Cardle. But The Rubberbandits can still make a comeback and beat him to number one if they can sell between 7,000 and 10,000 copies next week," an industry source said last night.
