The European premiere of 'Once The Musical' took place at Dublin's Gaiety Theatre and Pierce Brosnan arrived with his mother Meg.
Glen Hansard, star of the movie version, brought his mammy Catherine as his special guest.
Glen has given the stage adaptation of 'Once' the seal of approval.
The Frames star, whose track 'Falling Slowly' won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2007, told the Irish Independent of his delight to see John Tiffany's adaptation take off in the city where the story is based, ahead of its West End stint.
"It's surreal to be here, I know it's a little different to the Broadway version and I haven't seen this cast,so I wish them the best of luck with it - I'm delighted to be here."
Hansard was last to arrive at the opening and brought his mother Catherine along to the occasion.
"I hope she enjoys it," he said.
One of the surprise guests of the evening was former James Bond Piercer Brosnan, who turned out with his mother, Meg. They were accompanied by movie producer Barbara Broccoli, the woman behind the famous 007 hit films.
Brosnan said that he was thrilled to be in town for the performance.
President Michael D Higgins was also among special guests last night.
He arrived with his wife Sabina and enjoyed a private meeting with the cast, writer Enda Walsh and Hansard before the show kicked off.
Meanwhile, it was a significant evening for Yvonne Keating, pictured, and cinematographer boyfriend John Conroy, who appeared together on the red carpet for the first time.
The musical is scheduled to run until March 9.
Tickets are on sale now from Ticketmaster and all usual outlets.
