ConachyA COLOURFUL group of would-be politicians yesterday stood tall as they announced their plans for the forthcoming general election.
Unlike the other contenders for office at Dail Eireann, the formative group has no pretensions with its name -- dubbing itself CLOWNS.
Short for the Coalition of Wasters and Nit Wits, the group posed for pictures with its leader sporting a 40m-long pair of pink trousers.
Meanwhile the budding Minister for Finance spilled cash from a briefcase and the Justice Minister sported a convict's stripes instead of a pinstripe suit.
But the CLOWNS' leader topped the lot by commandeering a lorry and cherry picker on a frosty seafront yesterday morning.
The big man is also known as businessman Conor Hughes, the inspiration behind the annual Cross Cause charity extravaganza in the seaside village of Blackrock in Co Louth.
