It might be a bit tricky to teach your average feline friend.
But Maine Coon 'Fred' showed he was a natural performer as he posed alongside a new 68c stamp with his image on it.
An Post revealed four new stamps - depicting pedigree cat breeds including the Maine Coon, Burmese, British Shorthair and Persian D - which were all shot by feline photography specialist Amy French.
The Maine Coon is the largest domesticated breed of cat and is known for its excellent hunting skills.
Anne Fitzpatrick, the manager of the Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (WSPCA), said Ireland has a great tradition of pet ownership but urged owners to neuter, spay and microchip pets.
The stamps are available from www.irishstamps.ie, at the GPO and selected Post Offices.
