A MOTHER whose plans to give birth at the hospital are now in tatters revealed she was "absolutely devastated". After unsuccessful attempts to get through to the hospital on the phone, Jennifer Morrissey, who is 22-weeks pregnant, was forced to travel to the hospital.
"It's an absolutely amazing facility and everyone is lovely, I am absolutely devastated."
Eleanor Byrne has been a nurse in the hospital for 29 years, and she said last night that she was "devastated" to be embarking on what would be possibly the final 72 hours of her career in the hospital.
She vowed to continue delivering premium care to her patients "until the very, very end", and described her colleagues as "family". "It is a very sad day to think that this hospital will be no more," she added.
