MOST people will be able to ditch their umbrella this weekend, as it seems that St Patrick may bless us with some good weather for his festive celebrations.

Temperatures for the bank holiday weekend are expected to reach highs of 15 degrees, according to Met Eireann forecasters.

However, it's not all good news as some parts of the country should prepare for patches of drizzle and rain.

"There will be patches of rain in the north today, and it will start cloudy. But good sunny spells will develop this afternoon over most of the country," a forecaster said.

"Today's temperatures will range between 11 to 15 degrees."

Tomorrow will enjoy much of the same, with temperatures expected to range between nine to 12 degrees with patches of rain in the west.

But, more importantly, Monday will remain dry. Temperatures are expected to be between nine and 11 degrees.

"St Patrick's Day will be mainly dry. There will be some drizzle along the northern and western coasts," the forecaster said.

As well as being the day of parades, Irish music and culture, March 17 is also known to kick-start sales of the beloved 99 ice-cream cone.
