It's 38 years old - and it gets better with age. Thousands of people are expected to attend the Carlow Arts Festival this weekend - with a special performance by Switzerland's Pss Pss (Companie Bacala) taking centre stage tomorrow.

The festival - recognised as the first big cultural event of the Irish summer - will be running until Wednesday and promises visitors the experience of national and international artistic adventures and spectacular free performances, live music, visual art and family friendly events.

The events will be taking place at Carlow College, St Patrick's and at a host of local landmarks.
