Spark children's imagination with free-book offer
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxIT only takes one mesmerising tale to spark a lifelong love for the world of books.
The classic children's books that parents and grandparents remember fondly from their childhood are now available in a free giveaway to help spark the imagination of the new generation of readers.
The Irish Independent, in association with Tesco, is giving away a collection of eight Vintage Classic children's books.
The collection of cherished page-turners includes 'Peter Pan', 'The Jungle Book', 'The Wind in the Willows', 'The Railway Children', 'Black Beauty, What Katy Did', 'Five Children & IT', and 'A Christmas Carol'.
Geoff Lyons, group marketing manager at Independent Newspapers Ireland Ltd, said: "This is an enchanting collection of children's books.
"We are delighted to promote the written word and hope that families nationwide will enjoy the magic of reading."
All that is required is to buy a copy of the Irish Independent at any of the participating Tesco stores tomorrow to get the second book in the collection – 'The Wind in the Willows'.
Alternatively, readers can bring the token from tomorrow's edition to any participating Tesco outlet to receive this week's book, while stocks last.
The free giveaway got underway last Saturday with the ever popular 'The Jungle Book' issued as the first in the classic series.
One book will be issued for readers to collect every Saturday until March 2.
This week's book from Kenneth Grahame has enraptured children and adults alike since it was published in 1908.
Grahame, one of the best-loved authors of children's literature, apparently created the world of Mole, Mr Toad, Badger and Ratty the water rat, from the imaginative bedtime stories he shared with his son.
The story follows the cast of characters from one adventure to the next as Mole becomes lost in the Wild Wood and Toad faces 20 years in prison.
