Sophie's parents say thanks
The visibly frail, elderly parents of Sophie Toscan du Plantier yesterday thanked the Irish people for their support in the 15 years since their daughter was murdered, writes Ralph Riegel.
Georges (87) and Marguerite (85) Bouniol have visited Ireland every year since 1997 to pay tribute to the memory their film maker daughter, who was murdered just two days before Christmas 1996.
"Thank you so much for all of your kindness over the years. It has meant so much to us," Mrs Bouniol said yesterday.
The couple prayed at the Toormore holiday home outside Schull that Sophie had bought as her "dream house" but where she died. They also attended a memorial Mass in Goleen parish church.
