Sonny shines in charity bid

SHOWBAND legend Sonny Knowles has joined the fight to secure funding for cancer research.

The 79-year-old, who survived two bouts of cancer, belted out songs with the Dublin Gospel Choir outside Arnotts on Dublin's Henry Street yesterday.

The much-loved performer has suffered from both prostate cancer and cancer of the Oesophagus.

He was joined by broadcaster Lorraine Keane to mark the launch of the 10th annual Lollipop Day, which is in aid of the Oesophageal Cancer Fund.
