Some 66 drivers disqualified from driving ‘more than once’ after getting 12 penalty points

AT LEAST 66 drivers have been disqualified from driving more than once after accumulating more than 12 penalty points.
According to figures seen by Newstalk Lunchtime, total of 191 drivers were banned after reaching the 12 point limit in 2013.
The total since the introduction of the points system now at over 2,000.
Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has said 'penalty points alone' are not enough to deter motorists from dangerous driving - and that the courts can deliver longer bans if they feel they are necessary.
