THERE has been a welcome boost for jobs with the announcement of 170 posts at companies in Kildare and Cork.
Around 150 jobs are to be created at a new plastics factory in Leixlip, Co Kildare, where MGS Mfg Group is to open a €12m manufacturing centre over the next three years.
Welcoming the announcement, Jobs Minister Richard Bruton said it was "great news and a strong indication of the potential for jobs expansion in this area".
The factory will be set up in an existing 45,000sq ft building on the campus of Hewlett-Packard, one of the company's key clients.
In Cork, 20 R&D jobs are to be created in a software firm.
The Heavey RF Group is to set up a new international research centre in Little Island, over the next three years.
The company supplies mobile technology solutions to the logistics, manufacturing, field service, retail and transport.
Mr Bruton said the Government was targeting 20,000 additional manufacturing jobs in Ireland by 2016.
