Snap! Now showing up in the same dress is bang on trend
FIRST the Seoiges, and now the Kennedys.
Followers of fashion know there's always a risk of the ultimate fashion faux pas when someone turns up wearing the same outfit as you.
But the Seoige sisters were quite happy to wear the same Karen Millen dress in separate photo shoots. And Sinead Kennedy and Lucy Kennedy – who arrived to the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards last night in the same full-length sequinned silver gown – laughed when they realised they were dressed identically.
"We're both wearing Rachel Gilbert, we got it from different shops but we're both pretty laid back though so it doesn't really matter," said Sinead.
"Grainne Seoige said together we're two fifths of girls aloud," joked the 29-year-old RTE presenter. And Lucy also brushed off the blunder.
"As a mother if two who's recently been to Ghana and seen babies dying, there are far more important things in life than dresses," she said.
The two didn't decide to wear the same dress – and neither did the Seoige sisters, according to their management.
It was simply "a coincidence" that the siblings wore the same canary yellow peplum frock for photo shoots earlier this month.
The fashion double-up came to light when the May edition of 'Galway Now' magazine went into production.
Grainne was invited to select a yellow outfit for the launch in Dublin earlier this month of a drive for abandoned dogs to be adopted. She chose the €199 dress from Karen Millen for her press debut as her new role in helping get dogs homed.
Meanwhile, her younger sister was being dressed on the same day in the same yellow dress for the cover of 'Galway Now' magazine.
Last night the only yellow dress on the red carpet was a short number from Lisa Duffy, wife of Boyzone's Keith.
Most opted for full length gowns with RTE presenter Kathryn Thomas wowing in an intricate sheer and beaded gown by Russian designer Lya Solis. She was rewarded for her fashion choice with the title of Most Stylish Woman.
"I'm absolutely delighted, it's been a great night," she said after picking up her award.
"Over the last few years I've become a lot more confident in my own style."
Best dressed man, Irish Independent fashion writer Darren Kennedy, paid tribute to his partner as he took to the stage at The Marker Hotel in Dublin. "I'd like to thank Aidan my partner especially, we're 11 years together this weekend," he said.
Love/Hate actress Susan Loughnane won the title of Most Stylish Newcomer and Rosanna Davison won 'Look of the Year' for her Dawn Fitzgerald dress at the 2013 IFTAs. She wore a dress by the same designer last night and revealed she wants Dawn to design her wedding dress.
After the awards, guests descended on Dublin's exclusive Krystle nightclub where the party lasted into the early hours.
