Spirits were high as the Hallelujah Gospel Choir took to the stage and sang Christmas favourites including 'Joy To The World' and 'Santa C laus Is Coming To Town'.

Comic Porter is to star in the Olympia Theatre's panto 'The Ugly Sisters and Yer Wan' and he attended the event with some of his fellow cast members.

It was a family affair for Tallaght woman Cora Higgins (59) who brought her daughter Emma and her grandchildren Carla (9) and Charlie (10).

"We come every year," she told the Irish Independent.

"It's a lot better this year, there's a lot more space and it's better organised.

"We bring the grandkids most years as well, they like it."

Sandyford resident Ailish Faulkner (50) arrived with friends Nick Griffin and Jerry Lister.

"I've never come to this before actually but it's very good, at least it's not raining."
