'Smart and beautiful -- Emma was one of a kind'

EMMA Sloan was "a beautiful, smart and funny girl" who should have been sitting her Junior Cert next summer.

The 14-year-old had tickets for 'The X Factor' tour next year and she loved vintage clothes.

"If I could sum her up in one sentence she was 'one of a kind'," her mother Caroline (40) told the Irish Independent.

Emma, pictured right, went to Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School where she recently took part in a model show.

"She wanted to be a make-up artist. Every day she'd have a different 'look'.

"She loved boys and music and make-up and clothes.

"She bought her clothes in places like the vintage shop in Temple Bar. She loved Luke Friend on 'The X Factor'.

I bought her two tickets for Christmas for 'The X Factor' Tour," the devastated mother explained.

Tragically, Emma's sisters, Amy (20) and Mia (2), along with her aunt Susan, were present when she collapsed and died on Wednesday night.

"My daughter Amy held Mia in her arms as Emma died.

"Mia saw her die," said the heartbroken mother.

Emma, who had asthma, was normally extremely careful about not eating nuts. She had a very small number of episodes in the past with nuts but none were particularly severe.
