This Bank holiday weekend Mrs Doyle will be urging drivers to take a break and think about the deadly consequences of driver fatigue.

Fr Ted's loyal housekeeper is joining forces with Mayo County Council and An Garda Siochana to organise a targeted road safety campaign, aptly called "Go on, Go on, Take a Break."

Road signs bearing Mrs Doyle's beaming face will be erected at various points around the county, reminding drivers to incorporate regular breaks into their journeys.

Recent figures released by the gardai and the Road Safety Authority showed 12 people have died over the past five years and 27 people have been seriously injured on Irish roads over the August Bank holiday weekend.

So, in honour of Mrs Doyle's love of a cuppa, make sure you stop and take a break this weekend.
