Sleepwalking teen on holiday survives 20ft fall

AN Irish holidaymaker who fell 20 feet onto a concrete patio after sleepwalking off the second floor of his holiday hotel has escaped with just minor injuries.

The 19-year-old, named as Ros Casserly and understood to be from Dublin, fell after wandering out of his Spanish hotel room and climbing over a railing.

A waitress at the three-star Verdemar Apartments in the Majorcan resort of Santa Ponsa saw him hanging from the railing -- but was unable to reach him before he dropped.

He was diagnosed with just a broken ankle when he arrived at hospital.

The incident happened around 8.20am yesterday morning.

Officers from the local Civil Guard are probing the incident.

A spokesman for Son Dureta Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma confirmed: "We have operated on a 19-year-old Irish boy who suffered a broken ankle."
