A FATHER of six, whose body was found in a drain near a Co Offaly bog, was shot at least six times.
The savagery of the attack on Christy Daly (47) emerged as officers focused on gangs that had been involved in a feud in the Midlands.
Gardai believe Daly was targeted on the instructions of a local drug trafficker.
The killers fired a handgun into his body and then left him sitting upright in a six-foot-deep drain on a laneway.
One officer said last night: "We are very anxious to hear from people who had been in touch with Daly earlier on the night of Sunday, December 29, when he was murdered."
The last sighting of Daly was in the Clara Road area at around 8.30pm that day.
He is believed to have fallen foul of the gang last month shortly after his release from the Midlands jail, where he served a three-year sentence.
