Sky's the limit as comic Tommy Tiernan lands TV series

FUNNYMAN Tommy Tiernan is proving Irish comedians are comedy gold as he becomes the latest home-grown comic to land a TV series across the water.

The Navan star is writing, directing and starring in his own new TV sitcom for Sky about a psychiatric patient who arrives home to stay with his mother.

The father of five – who is one of Ireland's most prolific stand-up comics – is following in the footsteps of Chris O'Dowd who created 'Moone Boy' around his own childhood in Ireland.

The Meath star said yesterday on the 'Ray D'Arcy Show' that he would also be filming his new series around his home county later in the year. "It's a bit of craic," said Tiernan of the show.
