IT wasn't for the squeamish or the faint-hearted.
Visitors to the annual Dublin Tattoo Convention rolled up their sleeves to be inked by some of the best-known artists in the country and beyond.
Dozens of tattoo artists – and one company offering removal – took part in the convention, which was held at the Ballsbridge Hotel. While some visitors were looking for inspiration for tattoos, some knew exactly what they wanted. One woman was in the chair for a marathon six-hour session. Trish Vannon Thompson, from Co Meath, had a portrait of her parents inked on her arm.
