A 24-year-old man was arrested following the collision in the Boucher Road industrial estate in south Belfast on Monday night.

He was subsequently released on bail pending further police enquiries.

A TV crew was filming a crime reconstruction scene at the junction of Falcon Road and Apollo Road when the car mounted the pavement and crashed into them.

Two of the injured are in a critical but stable condition while the other four are said to be stable. All are being treated in Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital.

John McPoland, from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, said the crash prompted the unusual step of declaring a major incident. Seven ambulances attended the scene.

"We declared it a major incident because of the number of resources required and the number of patients involved," said Mr McPoland.

The crash happened around 8.30pm.
